Danika Fernandez

Danika Fernandez is a professional spinto soprano, arts advocacy worker and educator based in the New York City and New Jersey. She currently works as the Individual Giving Coordinator for Signature Theatre.
Danika’s passion lies in celebrating her heritage and her arts advocacy work. She teaches her historical performance class “Finding Your Filipino Voice” with the Filipino School of NY and NJ and bridges the NYC tri-state Filipino/Filipino-American communities as the Co-President of the Filipino-American National Historical Society, Metro NY Chapter. She has performed operatic roles such as Laetitia in Old Maid and the Thief, Countess Violante in La Finta Giardiniera, and most recently Cio-Cio San in New Jersey Opera’s production of Madame Butterfly and was an Encouragement Award recipient from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. As part of her artist advocacy work, she has sung for activist groups such as Malaya USA and Sound Off: Music for Bail. Her article on racial biases in the arts, “It’s not over until the Filipino woman sings” was published in 2021 for Public Access Magazine. She was a bespoken Fellow, an Arts Management and Fundraising Fellow at Ars Nova, and an Emerging Leaders Fellow with Tessitura. Danika has a B.M in Classical Voice from San Francisco State University and an M.M. in Opera from Mannes, The New School.
